Job Description
The Director of Surgical Services will provide leadership and direction for Surgical Service areas by ensuring that quality, cost-effective, and compassionate patient care is provided. This person is also responsible for the management functions of planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and communication for the Surgical and Anesthesia. Other responsibilities includes:

·Participate in the development of the organization’s long-range strategic plan and annual operation and financial plans as applied to Surgical Services.

·Contribute to the development of the Nursing Division’s long-range clinical practice plan.

·Provide information and advise the Senior Vice President of Nursing Services regarding current and projected nursing trends, areas of deficiency, and significant activities in the nursing profession as applicable to Surgical nursing.

Requirements
Master’s Degree in Nursing or health related field required. Current Registered Nurse license in State of Michigan. Five to seven years successful leadership experience in a comparable Surgical setting. Knowledgeable of current trends, practices, and issues related to Surgical nursing. Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively and appropriately communicate with Associates, physicians, family, patients and visitors.
