Operating Room Nurse Manager

$25,000 Sign on bonus based on experience

The role of the Nurse Manager in an operating room provides leadership, guidance, supervision and support to the Surgical Services team; as well as direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles as needed.  In addition to general nursing care, responsibilities of OR nurses and Nurse Manager include:

  • Accomplish nurse human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, educating, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining team members, communicating job expectations and adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and assure the compliance with accrediting and regulatory agencies.
  • Promote, monitor and implement the concepts of quality management and evidence-based practice.   Monitor service areas, recommend approaches for improvement activities, design new processes, collect and measure data, review and report performance over time, improve and redesign processes based on the evaluation and reassess continuously.
  • Provide programmatic leadership of the clinical component of assigned areas to ensure quality patient care outcomes.
  • Manage staffing and scheduling processing including the distribution of present and future FTE’s.
  • Assist in preparation, coordination, and evaluation of annual fiscal operation and capital equipment budgets for assigned areas.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of departmental retention strategies, recruitment, selection, and discipline of department personnel.    Participate in the development, coaching, motivation, and evaluation of department personnel.
  • Facilitate employee understanding of job requirements.   Assure availability of appropriate education to develop and maintain staff competence.
  • Role models the philosophy of person-centered care. Establish a compassionate environment. Daily patient/family rounding.  Handle patient complaints/other issues as they arise.


Education – Graduate of an accredited nursing program with BSN

Experience – 3-5 years Surgical Services experience preferred

Licensure – Current NYS RN license or ability to obtain


Operating Room RN

$25,000 Sign on bonus based on experience

We are seeking full time Registered Nurse(s) to join our team in the operating room providing direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles.  In addition to general nursing care, responsibilities of OR nurses include:

  • Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
  • Assesses patient physical condition.  Reviews history & physical, vital signs, diagnostic studies, reports any abnormalities.
  • Conducts pre- and post-operative education.  Assess knowledge level, ability to understand and coping mechanisms of patient and support system and educate as needed. 
  • Coordinates patient care team, use of supplies and equipment for intraoperative care, and controls the environment.
  • Coordinates patient care in the Operating Room according to Association of perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) standards and guidelines.
  • Establishes priorities for nursing actions, assigns activities to personnel based on qualifications, and prepares for potential emergencies.  Is aware of complications that may require special equipment.
  • Communicates and documents monitoring and physiologic responses to interventions (e.g. Medications, vital signs, LOC, skin color, change in physical status, etc.) to alert surgeon/anesthesiologist of changes that may require medical intervention.



Education – Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred

Experience – 1-3 years OR experience preferred

Licensure – Current NYS RN license

Physical Requirements –  Able to lift 20 pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring patients may involve lifting of up to 50 or more pounds.  Ability to stand for long periods of time.
